Terms & Conditions

The fine print.

Everything you agree to when you book, written as plainly as possible.

1. Terms & Conditions

1.1

Introduction

These terms and conditions govern the tuition services provided by Forrest Tutoring, a sole trader business operated by Lewis Barnaby Forrest. By booking a session, you agree to these terms.

1.2

Booking and Payment

  • Weekly Lessons: Lessons are booked as a weekly slot on our website. The first lesson is paid in full at the time of booking using our secure card processor (Stripe).
  • Automatic Payments: After the first lesson, the weekly lesson fee is taken automatically from the same card on the morning of each lesson, until the lessons are paused or cancelled. You will receive a receipt from Stripe for every payment.
  • Failed Payments: If a payment fails, Stripe will retry it and contact you to update your card. Lessons may be paused until the payment is made.
  • Pausing and Cancelling: To pause or cancel weekly lessons, contact us. Once cancelled, no further payments will be taken.
  • Free Consultations: The 15 minute consultation is free of charge and does not commit you to booking lessons.
  • Card Details: Card details are entered directly with Stripe. Forrest Tutoring never sees or stores your full card number.
1.3

Student Obligations

  • The student (or parent/guardian) is responsible for ensuring they have a stable internet connection, a working microphone, and a webcam.
  • Tuition will take place via Microsoft Teams. When booking, you provide the student's Microsoft Teams email address. The tutor will add this account and call it at the start of each lesson.
  • The Microsoft Teams account must be a personal account (e.g. Outlook or Hotmail), not one provided by a school or other organisation, as these usually block contact from outside the organisation.
  • Students are expected to be punctual. If a student is late, the lesson will still finish at the scheduled time to avoid disrupting subsequent clients.
1.4

Technology & Environment

  • Forrest Tutoring is not responsible for technical failures on the student's end (e.g., internet outages). However, if technical issues arise on the Tutor's end, the lost time will be made up or refunded.
  • Students must attend sessions from a quiet environment conducive to learning.
1.5

Limitation of Liability

  • While Forrest Tutoring strives to provide the highest quality education and support, we cannot guarantee specific exam grades or academic outcomes. Learning is a partnership, and the student's success relies heavily on their own study habits and engagement.
1.6

Code of Conduct

  • Forrest Tutoring maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards abusive or inappropriate behaviour. We reserve the right to terminate tuition immediately without refund if a student or parent behaves inappropriately.

2. Refund & Cancellation Policy

We understand that life happens. However, to protect the tutor's time and livelihood, the following policies apply:

2.1

Rescheduling and Cancellations

  • You may cancel or reschedule a lesson free of charge up to 24 hours before the scheduled start time. If that lesson has already been paid for, it will be refunded or moved to another time.
  • Cancellations made within 24 hours of the start time will be charged at 100% of the lesson fee.
2.2

No-Shows

  • If the student does not join the video call within 15 minutes of the start time, it will be treated as a "No-Show." The lesson will be cancelled, and no refund will be given.
2.3

Tutor Cancellation

  • If Forrest Tutoring needs to cancel a lesson due to illness or emergency, you will be offered a full refund or a priority rescheduling slot at your convenience.
2.4

Cooling-Off Period

  • When you book online, you have a statutory 14-day cooling-off period from the date of booking, during which you can cancel for a full refund of any lessons not yet taken.
  • If you book a lesson that takes place within those 14 days, you are asking for lessons to start during the cooling-off period, and you will pay for any lessons already taken.
